Last Stand

Ludwigsburg, Germany

It has been a while since I updated the blog, but I have been hard at work on a few new projects. First up is  The Big City, a show opening in Ludwigsburg, Germany on 23rd October at Kunstverein Ludwigsburg. The solo show, my first in Germany, will feature a combination of past work and installations as well as some new work shot on the streets of Berlin, Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg.

Fantastic Voyage

Death and Taxes

Grottaglie, Italy

The image above was another street installation from last year's Fame Festival in Italy. This one had a miniature speaker and mp3 player hidden inside the cigarette box, playing sounds of coughing. We moved in to a busier area where Angelo (founder of Fame Festival) and I filmed reactions to the installation as people passed by. We would have liked to have shot more, but it was right before a big festival at the church (right behind where we placed the installation) and they kept ringing the church bells. And then the brass band started up. I think that is why every parent tries to shoo their child away - "Come on, get to church!"

One Day Son

Southmere Lake, London

New badges (or 'pins' for you Americans) are now available from the store here, featuring images from my last show.

I have also put up the Concrete Ocean show catalogue on the site too - 55 pages of pretty pictures, printed on finest dead tree. Click here to check it out.

And if that wasn't enough stuff to spend your money on in these hard times, Don't Panic have a Slinkachu poster available from their online store, featuring art from the show - I was their featured poster artist in April. You can purchase here.

Boys Own Adventures

Acton, London

Another image from the upcoming show!

Speaking of which, the show opens March 3rd at Andipa Gallery in London and runs until 2nd April - it is free to look around, so pop along if you are in town. I am busy finishing off installations at the moment and some work-in-progress shots will be uploaded to my long-ignored Flickr account later this week.

My website www.slinkachu.com has undergone a bit of a makeover and now has more images and updated information. It is still a work-in-progress and more will be added over the next couple of weeks, but check it out anyway.

The Last Resort

Wandsworth, London

This is the first image from my new solo show, Concrete Ocean. The show opens 2nd March 2011 at Andipa Gallery in London and will feature a mixture of new images and installations. I am really excited about this show - it has been fun to work on! You can find out a bit more about the show on the Andipa website. I will be posting more images and information over the next few weeks, so check back often.

A major update to my site slinkachu.com should be live very soon too - details to follow soon. In the meantime you can follow me on Twitter - I finally relented and signed up (although anyone hoping I will be as prolific as Stephen Fry will be disappointed!) and Facebook.

I am featured in this quarter's edition of The Street Art Journal, including a pull-out poster of an image from my Big Bad City book. If you can't find a free copy at your local art gallery/ coffee shop / arty-farty hipster hang-out you can subscribe for free here and get it mailed in the post. The zine is put out by Elisa and Seth from Carmichael Gallery and is a brilliant read - really well made, loads of content - and did I mention completely free?
